Has any started using AutoCad Civil 3D yet? (Do you like it?)

What are some of the pros and con’s of switching to Civil 3D?

Absolutely.  I have never been more productive in my 14 years than in the past three since starting to use AutoCAD Civil 3d.

I know the post is a little stale, but it appears unanswered.   With Land Desktop 2009 being the last release, moving to Civil 3d is never more important than now.

I just need to find others who might be willing to hire someone with tons of Civil 3d experience.

I am a Cad Manager for a large consultant, and was hired strictly for the  implementation of Civil 3D and to train 100+ employees. There will be hurdles in front of you. The most important item to have setup is your template! Civil 3D's whole world revolves around styles! We are almost a year into our transition from Land Desktop to Civil 3D and my users are now becoming comfortable and confident with the application and we are starting to see gains in productivity. It's imperative that you seek training, this is almost impossible to tackle without a good instructor.

Just my 2 cents.

Lmesser -

Very good tip.  Training is key as Civil 3d is not Land Desktop.  While it took some time to get comfortable with the program and the workflow, it is not an impossible task.  The biggest task is un-learning a very comfortable workflow from Land Desktop.

Autodesk has a great webcast series on a rolling implementation that I would highly suggest.  The webcasts are free, and are tyipcally on Fridays at noon eastern.

We are just in the begining stages of setting up styles during our workday when the project load allows.  It is a big adjustment to do it on your own and just from working with the points, it is a big hassle.  Things are so intertwined and obscure that I can picture us going back to this point sometime in the future and spending a few days figuriong out what we did back then.
